Long Blue Shadows

Long Blue Shadows

Another lake picture, but this time from late February when the lake was still frozen over. I love these long blue shadows stretching over the ice. While it was actually an unseasonably warm day for late February, the blue shadows still make for an overall cool, even cold feeling. They also echo the deep blue sky overhead. I think it’s amazing that the lake always is a reflection of the sky, no matter what the season of the year.

Surrealistic Pillow

Surrealistic Pillow

This image with the unreal (surrealistic) clouds reminded me of the 60’s hit by the Jefferson Airplane (not the Starship). It was taken with my iPhone 4 and had a bit of post processing in Aperture, then exported. I am continually amazed at the quality of the images that are produced every day by “non-pro” photo gear. Men at Work, Rota Spain 1975

Men at Work, Rota Spain 1975

This one is from the archives. It was taken in Rota, Spain in July of 1975 during a port call when I was in the Navy assigned to the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Kind of fitting that this is an image of working since I am now back from a week at the cabin and head back to work on Monday. The original is a Kodachrome transparency taken with a Nikon F and a 35/f2 Nikkor, then scanned to a digital image with an Epson V600 scanner.
