Darkness Overtakes, (North) Sand Lake Wisconsin
When I am shooting a sunset from our cabin on the eastern shore of (North) Sand Lake, I rarely, if ever, take a single shot. If I do, it’s usually because it’s not great as sunsets go and I would probably delete it. More often, I take multiple exposures and end up with a sequence of images of the sun dipping below the horizon, or moving through the warm colors of the golden hours to the moody colors of the blue hour. That is the case with these two images.
On this evening I had my camera mounted on a leveled tripod and was panning left to right during an exposure just over a half second long – ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photography. I have an entire sequence taken that evening. As I was processing them later, when I returned home from the cabin – I noticed that the darkenss seemed to be chasing the light away, until it appears to catch and extinguished the light.
